Dr. Raymond Chang MD FACP

Hailed by New York Magazine as early as 1999 as one of the "New Healers"; Dr. Chang has been interviewed on the Today Show, cited by Reuters, Foxnews, and WebMD for his pioneering work in alternative medicine.

Dr. Chang, an internationally respected physician-researcher, is uniquely trained in contemporary Western medicine and traditional Eastern medicine, and he is an acknowledged pioneer in the field of alternative and complementary therapy programs for cancer, infertility and other complex medical problems.

Dr. Chang received both his B.A. (Magna cum laude) and M.D. degress from Brown University where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa as well as Sigma Xi. He subsequently completed post-doctoral training at Yale-Waterbury and Cornell-New York Hospital and is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

He joined Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 1987 ad was an Associate Attending in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Hospital as well as an Associate Member of the Sloan-Kettering Institute until 1997. He has been on the faculty of Weill Cornell School of Medicine since 1986.

Dr. Chang has been a strong proponent for an evidence-based approach to alternative medicine and founded the Institute of East West Medicine in 1997 and currently directs the world's largest database project on anti-cancer herbs.

Apart from the use of herbal medicines, Dr. Chang's current research interests also includes the use of cell based therapies against cancer and for degenerative diseases. He has been collaborating with Dr. Thomas Nesselhut of the Institute of Tumor Therapy and Professor Fred Fandrich of the University of Kiel in Germany in implementing dendritic cell therapies for cancer and stem cell therapies for degenerative diseases since the 2004, and has jointly published multiple reports with his German colleagues.

Recently, Dr. Chang has been devoting his efforts to the call for a different paradigm to treat cancer using a cocktailed approach (see latest book "Beyond the Magic Bullet - The Anti-Cancer Cocktail"), but he has also published books on fertility, and the integration of Eastern and Western medicine, as well as contributed to important textbooks in the field.

Dr. Chang is a member of academic medical societies including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the European Society of Medical Oncology, (ESMO). He has served as an editorial committee member of the international journal "Complementary and Alternative Medicine" and an advisory board member of the PDQ Database of the National Cancer Institute as well as the Global Forum on Indigenous and Traditional Health Systems. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Continuum Center for Health and Healing at the Beth Israel Hospital in New York, and the peer reviewed "Integrative Cancer Therapies" journal.
